The light of Château Colbert illuminates Anjou!
Château living starts here. In an exceptional setting of lushness, the prestigious dwelling built in 1679 by Michel Guémas and his son-in-law Jean Lecomte, architects, history unfolds its secrets...
The Colberts, Counts of Maulévrier, wrote the first chapter of this thrilling 17th-c. saga. A witness to the man’s madness, the Château was pillaged and set afire several times, but has always risen again from its ashes.
Today, driven by the passion of its owners, Dominique and Jean-Louis Popihn, it has become a boutique hotel brimming with personality, combining comfort, dream-like decor and refinement.
Its spacious guest rooms, gourmet restaurant, reception rooms, work areas and French gardens are just a few of the keys for the unforgettable stays, whether personal or business.
The Château, set on the edge of Maulévrier Oriental Park (the largest Japanese garden in Europe), invites you to set out on a voyage of delights! Its strategic location in Anjou enables you to discover the Loire châteaux, the Vendée coast or to tour the vineyards of Anjou and Maine-et-Loire.
Things to see and do: Cholet and its textile museum, Clisson l’Italienne, Angers, Saumur, Nantes, Le Puy-du-Fou, Poitiers and Futuroscope, the Marais Poitevin marshlands and more.
Your hosts, working hand-in-hand with their enthusiastic staff, will be delighted to welcome you to their elegant château, a veritable jewel of the Loire.
